the ballroom

13 March 2002 - 07:40

<<--unravel * reintegrate-->>

in the book i wrote in middle and high school, there were two main characters, ryan and forsythia. in a very early version, perhaps written when i was twelve, ryan shows forsythia the beautiful old house he lives in, room by room.

but there is one room he doesn't show her, and one day she comes to him and asks to see it. it is a ballroom, and it holds all his secrets. if she were to look at anything in the room, she would know something about his nature he doesn't want her to know.

he assents with the caveat that she look only into his eyes. she can go into this room with him but not once look away from his eyes for any reason.

she agrees, and they dance in the ballroom, and she hears music there that changes her life forever.

this was my idea of romance when i was twelve years old. maybe it still is.
